About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Web & Visual Designer to join Deer Designer as a team leader and hands-on contributor. In this role, you will ensure the quality, consistency, and timely delivery of design projects across multiple brands. As a player-coach, you will lead a talented team of designers, providing guidance, feedback, and mentorship to elevate their skills and output. Your expertise in art direction, brand systems, and design workflows will be crucial in maintaining high standards while managing multiple priorities. You will engage directly with clients during key touchpoints, translating their needs into actionable design strategies and solutions. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the creative direction of projects, optimize processes, and foster a high-performance team culture.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of professional design experience, with 1–3+ years in a leadership or senior role, ideally within agencies, subscription services, or in-house teams.
Proficiency in Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Figma, and Canva.
Strong command of English, both spoken and written, to facilitate clear communication and client interactions.
Exceptional art direction skills, with a keen eye for typography, composition, and brand consistency.
Demonstrated ability to review, critique, and provide actionable feedback to designers.
Calm, organized, and capable of managing multiple projects and brands simultaneously under load.
Experience in building scalable design systems, templates, and brand kits is preferred.
Familiarity with project management tools such as Trello, Asana, or Jira is a plus.
Responsibilities
Creative Leadership and Direction: Establish and uphold high creative standards for layout, typography, motion, and brand fit. Translate complex briefs into clear, actionable design directions and develop reusable systems like templates and brand kits to streamline workflows.
Quality Control: Review all deliverables to ensure they meet brand standards and are free of errors. Provide constructive feedback to designers to foster continuous improvement and define what constitutes "great" work per client and project.
Delivery Management: Prioritize incoming requests based on complexity, urgency, and dependencies. Assign tasks to team members, unblock work promptly, and communicate potential risks or delays early with proposed solutions.
Client Collaboration: Participate in key client meetings, including onboarding, brand alignment, and escalations. Proactively identify gaps in branding or processes and suggest improvements to enhance client satisfaction and project efficiency.
Team Leadership and Coaching: Lead weekly team syncs, celebrate wins, address blockers, and set priorities. Conduct regular 1:1 coaching sessions, develop skill enhancement plans, and maintain team morale and momentum while upholding quality standards.
Process and Continuous Improvement: Enhance briefing quality with targeted questions and examples. Identify recurring friction points in workflows and collaborate with production and customer success teams to implement effective solutions.
