About this Job:

The overall function of this position is to assist professional engineers and/or higher-level technicians in the performance of materials testing and/or office duties in a District Lab. This position is located in the District 61/Unit 156/East Baton Rouge Parish of the Department of Transportation and Development and reports directly to the Engineering Technician 7. The incumbent must be self-motivated and be able to perform duties many times with minimal supervision, and be able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise. The incumbent will participate in appropriate DOTD structured training programs as appropriate and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks. While in an official capacity, DOTD employees must comply with applicable Louisiana and Civil Service laws, rules, and regulations, as well as DOTD policies, procedures, manuals, and directives.

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR

Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

IA Testing and Sampling Materials in the Field.

Using State procedures to accurately perform testing on those materials.

Using Statewide computer programs to properly record test.

Using sophisticated laboratory equipment properly and safely.

Performing equipment calibration and standardizations.

Compensation: Depends on qualifications

Engineering Technician 1 -$14.00/hourly

Engineering Technician 2 -$16.03/hourly

Engineering Technician 3 -$18.35/hourly

Engineering Technician 4 -$21.00/hourly

Additional $2.00/Hourly Premium Pay for Every Hour Worked
