Overview
Marketing and Communications Specialist position in the College of the Environment Dean’s Office. The role is responsible for producing and managing social media content and website content, proofreading and approving email newsletters across the College, and producing College-wide digital newsletters. Provides minimal support to the Advancement team as needed and coordinates across multiple teams in the Dean’s Office and the College’s units. Requires strong editing and writing skills, interpersonal abilities, multi-tasking, creativity, and customer-service orientation to interact with diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

Social Media (30%)

Manage the College’s social media accounts, including the content calendar. Serve as the primary creator of social posts and lead strategist for reaching key audiences.

Collaborate with social media managers across the College and UW units to amplify content across channels.

Use data, metrics and industry knowledge to make content recommendations to increase social media traffic and engagement.

Email Marketing (30%)

Review and approve digital newsletters produced by the College’s unit partners and sent through UW’s email marketing platform.

Assist with producing the College’s newsletters, event invites and other email communications.

Together with the Director of Marketing, explore best practices for email marketing tactics including personalization, audience segmentation, A/B testing, etc. Analyze email data and use insights to modify campaigns and strategies to enhance performance and engagement.

Web (30%)

Answer basic questions and requests from the customer support inbox.

Proof and approve College website edits.

Assist partner units to ensure consistently strong website content.

With the Web Design Specialist, conduct training for unit web editors, test new web features, conduct informal user testing, manage user access for unit sites, and help with bugs that don’t require code fixes.

Collaborate with units to update sites according to best practices.

Format web content and post relevant, external stories to the College website; ensure the homepage is refreshed with featured stories, calendar items and other key elements.

Coordination and Administration (5%)

Manage the Marketing and Communication team’s general email inbox and route messages as appropriate.

Manage the College events calendar and work with units across UW to promote events.

Respond to information requests and develop correspondence as needed.

Assist with orders and purchases.

Help schedule team events.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or other related field and at least two years of related work experience. Equivalent experience can substitute for the degree requirement.

Additional Qualifications

Must have strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills and experience using Associated Press Style.

Demonstrated experience managing social media platforms in a professional and engaging manner.

Pay Range Minimum:

$60,780.00 annual

Pay Range Maximum:

$91,164.00 annual
