Position Overview
Our ideal candidate is a highly skilled communicator passionate about news, who practices the highest journalistic standards and is proactive and driven. Management assigns responsibilities regularly and on a rotating basis based on proven capabilities and business needs.
What You Will Do
Research and produce enterprise news stories
Cultivate and maintain news sources
Present news concisely, conversationally and accurately on-air and online
Create objective news content for a broad and diverse audience across multiple platforms
Write quickly, clearly and accurately
Use social media appropriately to present stories across all available media channels
Work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays under deadlines
Be available for breaking news coverage at any time of the day, including weekends and holidays
Coordinate with other news producers, reporters and the executive producer on breaking news updates and coverage
Perform other duties as assigned
Skills and Experience
College degree in communications, journalism, marketing or a related field; if no degree, minimum 2 years of relevant experience
Direct experience writing for broadcast
Direct experience crafting and delivering stories on‑air
Knowledgeable and articulate about current affairs and day‑to‑day news
Creative use of sound, production elements, audience engagement and news ideas
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Self‑motivated, creative, organized, and consistently display good judgment
Ability to understand and execute format philosophy and collaborate with a professional team
Proven ability to handle stress and meet deadlines
Professional appearance and demeanor appropriate for broadcast
Consistent availability for required hours and willingness to work additional hours when needed
Positive rapport with staff, management, and clients
Physical Demands
Effective oral and written communication
Manual dexterity to operate computer keys and general office equipment; work at a computer for prolonged periods
Sit or stand for extended periods
Occasional lifting, moving, and carrying of up to 20 pounds
Compensation
$17.00 – $24.00 per hour, based on education, experience, skills, and internal equity.
