Department Overview
The Social Media Intern supports The Rigby’s marketing efforts by creating, scheduling, and managing digital content that increases visibility, promotes events, and strengthens the brand. This role is part of the larger effort to keep The Rigby relevant, exciting, and engaged with its audience on all major platforms.

Qualifications
Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, Graphic Design, or a related field
Familiarity with Instagram and Facebook, including stories, reels, and business features
Strong writing and visual communication skills
Basic design knowledge (Canva or similar platforms preferred)
Understanding of current trends in short‑form content and influencer culture
Coursework in social media, marketing strategy, branding, or digital media is a plus
Prior job or volunteer experience in marketing, hospitality, or event promotion is helpful but not required
Must be organized, self‑motivated, and able to meet deadlines without daily supervision
Comfortable capturing photo and video content on a smartphone
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge:
Basic understanding of social media platforms and how they’re used for business
Awareness of current trends, memes, and influencer content
Understanding of hospitality, events, or nightlife culture is helpful
Knowledge of brand voice and visual consistency in content
Familiarity with digital content tools (e.g. Canva, CapCut, Meta Business Suite)
Skills:
Strong written communication for captions and messaging
Visual composition for photo and video content
Time management and ability to meet posting deadlines
Creativity in brainstorming, concepting, and executing content ideas
Organization in managing multiple events and deadlines at once
Abilities:
Work independently and manage tasks without constant oversight
Adapt quickly to new platforms, tools, or trends
Collaborate with managers and other interns in a team setting
Capture quality content during live events or busy hours
Represent the tone, culture, and energy of The Rigby through all content
Position Summary / Job Duties
The Social Media Intern is responsible for supporting The Rigby’s marketing efforts by creating and publishing engaging content across social platforms. This role focuses on promoting events, maintaining a consistent brand voice, and increasing overall visibility and engagement online. The intern will work closely with management and other team members to ensure social media reflects current happenings at The Rigby and aligns with overall business goals.
Create, schedule, and publish content on Instagram and Facebook
Capture photo and video content for use in reels, stories, and posts
Promote in‑house events, specials, and private bookings
Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and tags
Ensure all content aligns with The Rigby’s brand tone and style
Stay current on social media trends and recommend relevant ideas
Collaborate with event and management staff to align content with the calendar
Assist with influencer outreach and local cross‑promotion when applicable
Maintain an organized content folder and posting schedule
Track post performance and note engagement trends
Physical Demands
This role is primarily office and on‑site event‑based, with minimal physical requirements. Occasional walking may be required for capturing content or assisting with neighborhood marketing, such as posting flyers or promoting events locally. Must be comfortable using a smartphone to take photos or videos during events or while on‑site.
