Overview VP Communications & Marketing (UA-VPCM-IUBLA). Indiana University (IU) is seeking a Marketing Strategist to support campus- and university-wide initiatives within University Communications and Marketing. This role involves establishing and executing multi-faceted marketing and communications strategies to advance the university's goals.
Responsibilities Department Specific Responsibilities: Serves as a member of the marketing strategy and partnerships team, collaborating with marketing and communications partners across the university.
Develops and implements strategic plans focused on strengthening the IU brand and growing campus-level reputation and enrollment.
Develops and activates marketing plans with a digital emphasis.
Creates messaging for specific target audiences and reports on campaign success.
Works on multiple projects and collaborates with other departments, employees, university stakeholders and vendors.
Develops and executes comprehensive and highly complex marketing plans that engage target audiences and achieve desired outcomes.
Maintains an in-depth understanding of brand marketing, enrollment marketing, marketing channels, audiences, and related subject matter.
Serves as a relationship manager across a portfolio of marketing and communications partners, building trust and acting as a strategic resource for planning and support.
Works cross-functionally within a matrixed organization including communications, content strategy, design, paid media, social media, and web.
Monitors industry trends to identify opportunities to advance the university's goals.
Supports sponsorship activation plans, coordinating efforts across campus partners to align with university and campaign goals.
Measures campaign performance and provides insights and recommendations for improvement.
General Responsibilities Independently develops and executes basic to increasingly complex strategic marketing plans for a department or functional area, including data collection, market research, target market definition, timelines, promotional materials, and marketing content creation.
Responds to inquiries from stakeholders and explains information regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
Manages relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors, and curates marketing plans aligned with initiatives, groups, events, and programs.
Regularly researches relevant subject matter to increase knowledge of marketing channels (print, online, electronic, email, social media, direct mail).
May participate in team-based marketing planning to align strategies and deadlines across concurrent projects.
Collaborates with users of software and creative platforms to deliver content and marketing materials in multiple formats to diverse audiences.
May provide guidance to lower-level Marketing Generalists.

Qualifications Education
Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, digital media, or related field.
Work Experience
2 years in relevant field.
Preferred
3 years of experience with strong knowledge and experience in marketing and communications principles and strategy.

Understanding of the full marketing mix across paid, owned and earned channels.
Experience with paid social media campaigns.
Ability to work in a constantly evolving digital environment.
Strong prioritization, problem-solving, and project management skills.
Ability to juggle multiple assignments with tight deadlines; self-starter and initiative to build programs from scratch.
Excellent communications skills and a proven track record of success.
Work Environment & Location This role requires effective communication and computer proficiency. The position involves sedentary work with periods of movement in an office and campus environment. The person must be able to perform essential functions with or without accommodation. Bloomington, Indiana or Indianapolis, Indiana.
