Overview
The School of Art & Design at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) seeks a Part‑time Lecturer to begin Spring 2026 for its Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts programs on the Edinburg campus. The role involves delivering quality instruction, advising students, and participating in scholarship activities that serve the college, university, or local community as needed.
Responsibilities
Deliver quality instruction in the Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts programs.
Advise students throughout their studies.
Participate in scholarship activities that serve the college, university, or local community as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Master of Fine Arts degree in graphic design from an accredited institution, or an MFA, or an MS degree with at least 18 graduate credits in the specific subject area.
Credit may be given for professional work experience.
Discipline Specific Qualifications
May be required to attend a training workshop on the use of Brightspace (D2L) and online teaching.

UTRGV is a distributed institution; the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. The position is security sensitive and subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) if the position is at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length, or the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) if the position is at least 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
Texas law requires faculty members whose primary language is not English to demonstrate proficiency in English as determined by a satisfactory paper‑based test score of 500 (computer‑based 173 or internet‑based 61) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or a satisfactory score of 6.0 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
