Truist is seeking a skilled Web Engineer to join our Middleware Services team. This role is responsible for designing, building, and supporting enterprise web platform solutions that enable secure, reliable, and high performing applications across the organization.

The Web Engineer will work across multiple web engineering and middleware technologies, contributing to solution architecture, system integration, platform stability, and operational excellence. You will play a key role in deploying new solutions, maintaining and enhancing existing platforms, and serving as a technical escalation point for complex incidents. This hands‑on technical role may include participation in on‑call, off‑shift, or weekend support rotations as business needs require.

Key Responsibilities

Design, integrate, configure, test, and deploy enterprise web and middleware solutions

Support and maintain production systems, including incident troubleshooting and resolution

Perform platform upgrades, patches, and configuration changes

Serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues and production incidents

Develop and maintain standards, procedures, and best practices to improve reliability, performance, and security

Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, and application teams to deliver scalable solutions

Contribute to automation and infrastructure as code initiatives

Technical Environment

Web and middleware technologies including ISVA, IIS, HTTP, .NET, Tomcat, Apache, WebSphere, LDAP, and Spring Boot

Container platforms such as Kubernetes and OpenShift

Hybrid environments supporting on‑premises and cloud‑based systems

On‑premises deployments using virtual machines and OpenShift containerized infrastructure

Cloud platforms including AWS and Microsoft Azure

This position is office‑centric 5 days a week in one of our Truist hub locations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead a web/middleware engineering team responsible for design, engineering, testing and implementation of infrastructure and nonfunctional technical requirements.

Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, managing and coordinating web/ middleware engineering functional roles, including high‑level designs, low‑level designs, testing plans, implementation plans and production turnover.

Establish operational objectives and assignments and delegate assignments to direct reports, as applicable, with accountability for methods, procedures, functionality and quality of deliverables.

Provide technical leadership to the web/middleware engineering team.

Prepare and monitor resource plans and allocations, and track budget and resource metrics.

Manage escalated issues. Interact with counterparts in engineering, application development, configuration management, quality assurance, production support, and other technical and business partners.

Ensure the team is organized in a consistent manner providing repeatable end‑to‑end workflows, best practices and deliverables for infrastructure design and implementation.

Ensure the development and documentation of policies, procedures, standards and technical infrastructure that support the mission of the group. Provide documentation and training to allow for the turnover of the technical solutions to the IT operational teams for daily support.

Stay abreast of industry developments and solutions that deal with web/middleware‑based solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a business or IT field, or equivalent education and related training

Five years of experience managing in an IT environment

Five years of experience implementing and supporting large scale web/middleware solutions

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Demonstrated proficiency in learning and applying technical concepts

Ability to successfully interact with all levels of management across all lines of business and negotiate complex technical issues

Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products

PREFERRED SKILLS

5+ years of experience working with defect or incident tracking tools

5+ years of experience creating and maintaining technical documentation

Experience with Infrastructure as Code, including GitLab‑based CI/CD pipelines

Advanced automation experience using Terraform and/or Ansible

Hands‑on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Availability: Able to work all hours scheduled, including overtime as directed by manager/supervisor and required by business need.

Travel: Minimal and up to 10%
