Base pay range

$110,000.00/yr - $135,000.00/yr

We are seeking a

Web Middleware Engineer

to join our client's global media and entertainment team. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in enterprise-scale environments and is passionate about managing and optimizing middleware platforms that support business-critical applications. You will be responsible for the deployment, configuration, performance tuning, and security of web middleware technologies across global infrastructure.
This project will require the person to be remote commutable within the Los Angeles CA, New York tri-state area, or Orlando FL. Key Responsibilities:
Administer, configure, and maintain web middleware platforms including: Microsoft IIS, Apache Tomcat, JBOSS and Apache HTTP Server
Support deployment and lifecycle management of Java-based and .NET applications across middleware environments.
Collaborate with application development, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to ensure seamless integration and performance.
Implement and maintain SSL/TLS certificates, reverse proxies, load balancing, and URL rewriting.
Monitor and optimize middleware performance using tools such as New Relic, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, or Prometheus/Grafana.
Automate middleware configuration and deployment using Ansible, Terraform, PowerShell, and Python.
Ensure middleware platforms meet security and compliance standards, including patching, access control, and vulnerability remediation.
Support CI/CD integration for middleware deployments using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
Troubleshoot and resolve middleware-related issues in development, staging, and production environments.
Maintain documentation for middleware architecture, configurations, and operational procedures.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in middleware engineering or web infrastructure support.
Deep expertise in IIS, Apache, Tomcat, and JBoss administration in enterprise environments.
Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
Solid understanding of web application architecture, HTTP/S protocols, session management, and load balancing.
Experience with Linux (RHEL/CentOS) and Windows Server environments.
Knowledge of cloud platforms, especially AWS (EC2, ELB, S3, CloudWatch, IAM) and Azure (App Services, VMs, Azure Monitor).
Strong grasp of security best practices, including certificate management, RBAC, and secure configuration.
Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment.
Relevant certifications (e.g., Red Hat Certified Specialist in Middleware Administration, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate) are a plus
Nice to have:
Experience with NGINX, HAProxy, or WebSphere is a plus.
Familiarity with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
Exposure to log aggregation and analysis tools such as ELK Stack, Splunk, or Graylog.
Understanding of DevSecOps principles and middleware security hardening
The base salary range for this contract position is $115,000- 135,000 /per year, depending on experience. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered.
