The Web Content Production Specialist supports the build of Emerson's new website by entering and structuring content, imagery, and multimedia in our new content management system. Working from approved source documents and copy decks, the Specialist accurately reconstructs page-level content, ensuring that text, photos, and video meet Emerson's brand, accessibility, and editorial standards. This temporary role plays a critical part in delivering a launch‑ready site, partnering closely with the Marketing Communications team, Creative team, and external vendors during a defined production window.
Essential Job Duties
Enter approved text, photo, and video assets from sourcedocuments into the new CMS, ensuring 100% content parity with provided copy decks and asset libraries.
Build page layouts using the CMS's templates and reusable components, applying theming that adheres to Emerson's brand and design specifications.
Audit each page for functional accuracy, including verification of hyperlinks, header hierarchy, structural markup, and responsive display across breakpoints.
Optimize media during entry by adding descriptive alt text, captions, and metadata, and ensuring images and video are properly scaled and formatted for web performance and accessibility.
Maintain a tracking log of completed pages, flag content gaps or open questions for the project lead, and report progress in weekly check‑ins to keep the site on schedule for launch.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in communications, marketing, English, journalism, or a related field.
Prior experience with WordPress, particularly the Block Editor (Gutenberg).
Demonstrated experience entering, formatting, and publishing content in a web‑based CMS (WordPress or comparable platform).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong attention to detail and proven ability to follow detailed style guides, content specs, and design templates with consistency.
Comfort with basic image handling, including cropping, resizing, file naming conventions, and writing descriptive alt text.
Ability to work independently, manage workload against a defined production schedule, and meet weekly milestones.
Strong written communication skills and sound editorial judgment.
Proficiency with standard productivity tools (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office) and comfort learning new systems quickly.
Familiarity with web accessibility standards (WCAG) and basic SEO principles.
Experience in higher education or a comparable institutional environment.
Familiarity with project tracking tools such as Airtable or Asana.
Physical Abilities
Requires ability to lift and move objects that are light.
Requires ability to move materials occasionally.

Engagement Details
