Job Description
The Program Coordinator will join the Maternal and Child Health Initiatives (MCHI) team and support the expansion of current programming. This role focuses on supporting prenatal and parenting families with children under age three through resource navigation to local services and education on child development. The Program Coordinator will build and strengthen partnerships with healthcare organizations and community partners across the state, with an emphasis on Chicago’s West Side and South Side Neighborhoods, to maximize referrals to MCHI programs.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in internal and external meetings and community events, promoting MCHI program services in healthcare and community settings.
Complete family intake assessments to support families in addressing immediate needs.
Serve as a resource navigator for families and healthcare staff.
Coordinate the Connect Home Visiting Chicago (CHVC) program and support new programmatic initiatives.
Maintain flexibility for occasional evenings and weekends; work a hybrid schedule including in-office, remote, and community-based outreach.
General Summary
The Coordinator will coordinate planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs and events, serving as a contact with community partners, maintaining relationships, and assisting with grant applications and reporting. Responsibilities include program logistics, communication efforts, and administrative functions.
Job Functions
Collaborate with internal and external partners, community leaders, healthcare professionals, researchers, and public health practitioners to identify health priorities and develop community health and engagement strategies.
Coordinate planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of community health and engagement initiatives within the Magoon Institute.
Act as contact for Lurie Children’s with community partners, residents, and marginalized populations across Chicago neighborhoods.
Support coordination of community and city‑wide convenings, trainings, workshops, and action planning ensuring diverse representation.
Coordinate program logistics, track project expenditures, facilitate meetings and events, and maintain project materials and documentation.
Prepare regular status reports on project progress, outcomes, and impact.
Support administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, booking rooms, preparing meeting supplies, taking notes, and compiling key takeaways.
Assist in the development and implementation of communications, marketing, and social media efforts.
Support program evaluation through data collection, participant feedback, and monitoring outputs and outcomes.
Facilitate connections between Lurie Children’s healthcare providers and community partners to ensure access to health education and resources.
Assist in grant and philanthropic applications, reporting to funders, and fundraising efforts.
Facilitate trainings and provide support for program assistants, students, interns, and volunteers.
Attend and contribute to regular check‑ins with leadership, managers, staff, and collaborators.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
Minimum 2 years of experience in community health programming or related field; project coordination experience preferred.
Strong project coordination and organizational skills.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and travel throughout Chicago.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, problem‑solving, organizational, and time‑management skills.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft 365; experience with database management and survey software preferred.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects.
Ability to collaborate across disciplines and build relationships at all levels.
Ability to take initiative, work independently, and be self‑directed.
