Job Description

SUMMARY :

Reporting to the Chair, the 3D Studios Coordinator oversees dailyoperations, equipment maintenance, safety compliance, and studentstaffing for the 3D Sculpture Studio and Ceramics Studio, inconversation with the strategic priorities set by DepartmentAdministration.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Conduct regularly scheduled open studio hours in the assignedstudios

Establish and enforce best studio practices to ensure a safe,professional working environment

Maintain a clean and organized space in the assigned studios.Ensure proper disposal of trash and recyclables; preventaccumulation of flammable materials

Oversee tool maintenance across all assigned studios, andcoordinate needed tool repairs or improvements in collaborationwith the Department Administration

Manage storage of student projects, course materials, thestudios’ supply inventories

Submit facilities maintenance service requests through Nuvoloor directly to University Facilities

Instruct one course per semester in the areas of: sculpture orceramics, given one’s experience and curricular need

Work closely with faculty and staff to support curricular needswithin the assigned studios

Help to develop and maintain studio safety manuals and relateddocumentation for use by classes in the assigned studios

Conduct safety orientations and workshops for courses usingassigned studios

Recruit, train, and supervise student assistants to supportopen studio hours and departmental projects in the assignedstudios

Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for allstudent users in the assigned studios

In conjunction with Department Administration, submit purchaserequisitions within budget to maintain inventory and coursesupplies

Perform other duties as assigned

Management retains the right to add or change job duties at anytime

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED
Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university inStudio Art, Sculpture, Ceramics or related field

Minimum of three years of experience in a sculpture and/orceramics studio in an academic or professional setting, as aShop/Studio Assistant or a Shop/Studio Manager

Metalwork experience and proficiency with welding equipment,steel fabrication, and common metalworking tools

Woodworking experience and proficiency with woodworkingequipment and the maintenance of woodworking equipment

Ceramics experience and proficiency with wheel throwing, handbuilding and kiln use and maintenance

Experience and proficiency with associated equipment/machineryand chemicals/safety in the assigned studios

Ability to lift 50 lbs

Ability to work in person 5 days a week, 10 months a year(Summer term off)

Ability to work occasional evenings and possibly one weekendday

Experience, ability, and commitment to creating a workingenvironment that is supportive, open, and respectful

PREFERRED
Master’s degree in Studio Art, Sculpture, Ceramics or relatedfield

Experience as a Ceramics and/or Sculpture Studio Manager

Familiarity with CNC machinery

OSHA 10 and/or First Aid Training certifications

Experience in Higher Education Administration or otheradministrative field

Salary Range

$63,833.23-$70,221.74 Annual
