ABOUT CHAMPIONS FOR CURES

Champions for Cures is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness and funds for the fight against cancer. ROLE OVERVIEW

The Marketing & Operations Coordinator will support strategic growth initiatives and assist with day-to-day operations, working to advance the organization's mission to fight cancer. This is a great opportunity for an early-career professional looking to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit operations, fundraising, and community engagement.

This part-time hybrid position based in Westchester, IL with flexibility to work from home. There is potential for this role to grow into a full-time position as the organization expands.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

FUNDRAISING & GROWTH

  • Proactively solicit donations, sponsorships, and corporate giving from individuals, businesses, and community partners
  • Recruit and engage event participants, golfers, and peer-to-peer fundraising captains — actively growing registration and participation year over year
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with donors and prospects through consistent, personalized outreach
  • Identify and pursue new revenue opportunities, including individual giving, corporate partnerships, and community sponsorships
  • Support the team in hitting annual sponsor, P2P, and overall fundraising goals

GRANTS

  • Research 5–10 grant and corporate giving programs annually; identify top targets and track deadlines and requirements
  • Gather supporting documentation, draft narratives, and submit grant applications
  • Track submitted applications, follow up on pending submissions, and report on any awards received

MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS

  • Create and schedule social media content across all program phases — nomination reminders, champion reveals, registration pushes, golfer recruitment, and event countdowns
  • Build and manage email sequences for registration, P2P fundraising, and champion campaigns using ActiveCampaign
  • Lead champion family storytelling: conduct interviews, collect photos and video, draft profiles and media kits, and manage reveal campaigns
  • Keep the website current — update homepage, registration pages, champion content, and P2P pages each phase

OPERATIONS & PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Maintain project management tools and master files to keep annual programming on track
  • Schedule and prepare materials for board meetings, including weekly reports and phase updates
  • Manage CRM data (ActiveCampaign, BetterUnite) including contact cleanup, list imports, and data integrity
  • Coordinate the P2P program: training sessions, captain program, activity tracking, leaderboards, and captain coaching
  • Support event logistics including vendor coordination (photographer, DJ), golfer registration, and volunteer communication
  • Build Winter 2027 Gala and assist with sponsorship packages and gala marketing planning

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Some experience or coursework in marketing, communications, nonprofit management, or a related field
  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms (ActiveCampaign or similar) and social media content creation
  • Comfort managing digital tools — website CMS updates, CRM data entry, and project management software
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines across a program year
  • Clear, confident written communication skills for donor-facing content, social posts, and board materials
  • Experience with or interest in peer-to-peer fundraising platforms is a plus
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable taking ownership of ongoing responsibilities
  • Genuine passion for the mission and enthusiasm for contributing to the fight against cancer
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field (preferred, not required)
