Director, Carelon Client Management - Carelon Services External Growth

Location: In‑office 3 days per week with flexibility for virtual work as needed. Alternate sites may be considered for candidates within commuting distance.

Overview

The Director leads a team of Client Partnership Directors (Account Executives) managing strategic relationships with national and regional health‑plan clients across Carelon’s solution portfolio. The role focuses on client retention, executive‑level partnership strengthening, and growth opportunity identification within existing accounts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute client retention and account growth strategies, guiding teams to identify upsell and cross‑sell opportunities.
  • Oversee team execution to meet client deliverables, contractual obligations, and benefit and claims operations setup.
  • Provide strategic direction and coaching on client engagement, executive presentations, and relationship management.
  • Partner with leadership to translate market trends into actionable strategies positioning Carelon as a proactive, value‑driven partner.
  • Support system implementations and migrations, acting as an escalation point for complex issues.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performance team focused on accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Drive consistency in client management practices, touchpoint cadence, reporting quality, and overall client experience.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS degree and at least 10 years of account management and/or operations experience in the managed‑care industry (or equivalent education and experience).

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experience

  • MBA preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of Carelon or similar managed‑care service models and multi‑solution portfolios.
  • Strong payer‑side experience across Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid lines.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing and developing account management teams.
  • Proven ability to drive client retention and growth through data‑based insights.
  • Experience engaging executive‑level stakeholders and influencing decision‑making.
  • Excellent written, oral, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).

Salary & Benefits

Salary range: $172,392 – $258,588 (dependent on experience and location). Benefits include a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase plan, and 401(k) contribution (subject to eligibility).
