Position Overview
The Director of Sales will provide strategic leadership for all sales initiatives, overseeing revenue generation efforts across group, transient, catering, and special event business. The ideal candidate will bring a sophisticated understanding of luxury hospitality sales, relationship-driven business development, and destination marketing, combined with a track record of exceeding revenue goals in a resort or luxury hotel environment.
This role serves as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and partners closely with Revenue Management, Marketing, Operations, and Ownership to maximize market share, profitability, and long-term brand positioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies to achieve annual revenue, ADR, occupancy, and market share objectives.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing sales team focused on luxury group, corporate, association, incentive, social, and leisure business.
- Cultivate relationships with luxury travel advisors, meeting planners, third-party representation firms, consortium partners, and key corporate accounts.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities while maintaining strong relationships with existing clients.
- Oversee strategic solicitation efforts, sales missions, industry events, and trade shows.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Revenue Management to create integrated commercial strategies that maximize demand and profitability.
- Analyze market trends, competitive intelligence, and performance metrics to identify growth opportunities.
- Partner closely with Catering and Conference Services to ensure seamless transitions from contract execution through event delivery.
- Maintain a strong presence within the luxury hospitality community and represent the property at industry events and networking functions.
- Prepare annual sales plans, budgets, forecasts, and business reviews for executive leadership.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 7+ years of progressive luxury hospitality sales leadership experience.
- Previous experience as a Director of Sales, Director of Group Sales, or senior commercial leader within a luxury hotel, resort, or destination property.
- Strong understanding of luxury leisure, group, incentive, and social event markets.
- Demonstrated success exceeding revenue targets and driving market share growth.
- Experience working with Forbes Travel Guide, AAA Four Diamond/Five Diamond, Preferred Hotels, Leading Hotels of the World, or comparable luxury environments is highly desirable.
- Established relationships within the luxury travel, meeting planner, and corporate sales communities.
- Exceptional presentation, negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and financial acumen.
