About the Agency

Mississippi Public Broadcasting is a state-licensed public media organization serving audiences across Mississippi through radio, television, and digital platforms. Mississippi Public Broadcasting is a trusted multimedia organization that educates, enlightens and entertains Mississippians. As the only statewide radio and television broadcast network, MPB connects Mississippi households and communities. MPB programming focuses on the people, resources and attractions that reflect Mississippi's unique culture and diverse heritage. MPB provides a valuable resource to Mississippians in disseminating information as part of the state's emergency preparedness and response system. With live stream, on-demand episodes of both radio and television favorites and the latest from MPB news, the MPB App provides listeners and viewers with a way to stay connected, no matter where in the world they may be. MPB reaches over 50,000 people a day through various social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram. MPB's social channels provide information, news and entertainment around the clock, even in emergency situations.

This is an X16 position. MPB is seeking a dynamic broadcast professional with on-air hosting, show planning, public appearances, audio editing skills, as well as general knowledge of a broadcast operation facility. The Host/Radio Producer leads the daily production of local news and infotainment programming across radio, podcast, and digital platforms. This role blends editorial leadership, audio engineering, digital storytelling, and on-air performance in a dynamic public media environment. The ideal candidate is a sharp, resourceful personality and producer who brings strong content judgment, cross-platform production expertise, and the composure to deliver excellent work under deadlines. The ideal candidate is someone with both a commercial and public media background, or a willingness to learn and embrace public media. This candidate is also a meticulous producer and natural collaborator who doesn't lose your head when the board lights up and the guest is late. They are passionate about public service media, curious about the community, and instinctively know what makes a story worth telling — and how to tell it effectively across any platform.

  • Record, edit, and mix audio to professional broadcast standards.

  • Edit recorded programs for podcast release; upload finished episodes with complete metadata (titles, descriptions, images, audio files).

  • Troubleshoot technical and production issues during live and recorded productions.

  • Maintain flexibility for breaking news, live events, and shifting production priorities.

  • Complete administrative duties including quarterly reports, SoundExchange reporting, and production documentation.

  • Coordinate guest communication, answer phones, and provide general production support.

  • May include some operational supervisory duties.

  • Reliable personal transportation required.
