Summary The Account Manager – Electrical is responsible for the overall successful management of 50‑70 distribution national accounts, developing new sales strategies to solicit new customers and increasing sales to current distributors, meeting those targets on a monthly basis. The role also collects market information on pricing, competitors, and market changes to report to the Sales Manager and provides A‑to‑Z account and relationship management for distributors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage daily business activities of assigned accounts including pricing, shipments, scheduling of orders, order entry, and ensuring highest level of service under the Company’s Sales Standard Operating Procedures.

Develop necessary business through existing or new customers in assigned territory to ensure the Company has adequate market share.

Maintain product knowledge of all the Company’s products by attending technical training seminars and self‑study.

Send samples, literature, testing data, and documentation to customers; initiate and follow through with product assurance to resolve any order disputes.

Respond to customers’ requests for quotations in a timely, accurate manner; visit assigned customers regularly to maintain good relationships and offer improvement ideas.

Work closely with Production to ensure product availability in appropriate areas.

Be available to work with customers in different time zones to meet their needs.

Attend and actively participate in weekly sales meetings.

Assist the credit department with collections issues and resolve disputes with customer accounts.

Maintain confidentiality of all proprietary, trade secret, business, customer, and financial information as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree required, or equivalent experience in sales, telemarketing, or customer service acceptable, and 3 years of inside/outside sales experience in a quota‑driven, B2B environment.

COMPUTER SKILLS
Intermediate knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook; internet/intranet experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups; excellent verbal and written communication.

MATH & REASONING SKILLS
Ability to calculate discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume; apply basic algebra and geometry; solve practical problems with limited standardization; interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Regularly use hands and fingers, talk, hear; sit frequently and occasionally stand and walk; lift or move up to 10 pounds regularly, up to 25 pounds occasionally; requires close and distant vision, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment is usually quiet.
