Tech Writer

Piper Companies is seeking a Technical Writer to support an organization within the infrastructure and engineering industry. The Technical Writer role is designed for a professional with experience in networking and IT automation who can translate complex systems into clear, structured documentation and maintain a centralized knowledge base.
The Technical Writer role is a remote, long term contract opportunity.
Responsibilities of the Technical Writer

Document network architectures, automation workflows, and infrastructure as code (IaC)
Create process maps, SOPs, and operational playbooks with SMEs
Manage and organize Confluence spaces, templates, and documentation
Translate technical concepts into user-friendly guides
Maintain document version control and accuracy
Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, and IT teams
Requirements of the Technical Writer

3+ years of technical writing experience in IT, networking, or engineering
Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals (routing, switching, firewalls)
Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, CI/CD)
Proficiency with Visio, Lucidchart, or Draw.io and Confluence
Excellent communication and documentation skills
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Agile/Scrum and Jira/GitHub experience preferred
Compensation for the Technical Writer

$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
