We are seeking a passionate, community driven Community Editor to lead our editorial efforts in central Iowa. The ideal candidate isn't just an excellent writer, but a community connector who will dive into local government beats, compelling feature stories, and amplify local voices. Our newspaper is in a thriving, safe community with ample parks, a highly regarded public school, reasonably priced housing, and is easily accessible to nearby metropolitan areas.
Key responsibilities:
* Coordinate and lead local coverage of our town and county.
* Produce cohesive, comprehensive news and feature stories.
* Proficient in photography and an ability to post content and photos online.
*Community engagement. Build effective professional relationships with readers, government officials, and local businesses.
* Grow our readership by driving social media engagement.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.
* Prior reporting experience strongly preferred. Prior editor experience is helpful but not required.
* Strong organizational, critical thinking, and multi-tasking skills.
* Proficiency in MS Office and WordPress.
* Proficiency in social media platforms helpful.
