POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the General Manager, the Operations Manager is responsible for day‑to‑day site operations, including supervising the warehousing, receiving and shipping of product in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives. The role involves planning inbound and outbound volume, customer communication, space utilization, equipment management and people management responsibilities such as hiring, training, labor planning, performance appraisals and problem resolution. Associates are expected to meet performance, safety and quality objectives and comply with all corporate and site‑specific policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures the development of systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment and products in a safe and profitable manner in accordance with company policies, guidelines and procedures.
Manages operations to meet prescribed productivity and service goals, complying with client SLAs.
Drives continuous improvement efforts and provides ideas for more efficient operations and ongoing cost‑saving measures.
Meets all client specified KPIs and complies with quality system requirements.
Applies sound communication and motivational techniques, creating programs to supervise fairly and equitably, counsel and discipline team members.
Collaborates with Human Resources to create hiring, training and professional development programs and participates in performance evaluation and HR activities.
Delivers results by leveraging the skills of the right people at the right time.
Effectively keeps senior management and client representatives informed of critical issues affecting the operations.
Plans the daily work schedule by reviewing work orders, arrival notices and customer instructions, assessing priorities and assigning duties.
Reviews current volume demands to plan for reorganization of warehouse space and adjust staffing or supplies.
Ensures effective training is delivered to team members by qualified individuals and ensures adherence to SOPs.
Ensures leadership team assesses trainee progress to determine new hire performance and cultural fit.
Maintains high motivation in team members to deliver customer satisfaction.
Provides ongoing growth and development opportunities for team members.
Supports adherence to standard operating procedures.
Conducts routine staff meetings to review daily and weekly activities.
Ensures team members are properly trained and efficient in required information systems (including WMS) to meet company and client objectives.
Ensures necessary computer software and hardware are purchased per IT policies and guidelines.
Keeps knowledgeable regarding hardware and software technology changes.
Develops proficiency in client systems.
Manages high‑level customer service standards for all functions.
Assures client accounts receive required operational and administrative support.
Maintains contact with all functions and responds to requests promptly.
Attends or leads meetings with key customers to discuss issues.
Coordinates management of supplier/customer visits to the site.
Promotes positive relationships with clients through excellent service.
Supports development of an annual operating budget.
Develops and manages a system of controls to ensure service levels and operational performance goals meet cost, revenue and profit parameters.
Assists to ensure budgeting and pricing activities comply with contract guidelines.
Manages existing programs for maintaining company standards of sanitation, maintenance, security, housekeeping, safety and equipment, including MHE.
Ensures team members are properly trained on any MHE.
Keeps informed of relevant new technology and makes recommendations as applicable.
Achieves company goals in terms of injury frequency ratings and other safety metrics by establishing a proactive safety culture.
Audits warehouse for compliance with safety, security and quality principles and rules.
Ensures adherence to all federal, provincial or statutory health and safety requirements.
Works overtime as dictated by business, whether mandatory or voluntary.
Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages warehouse operations supervisors and support staff.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education & Experience
Must have a high school diploma or GED.
Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
7 years’ experience in a logistics, distribution or relevant environment.
5 years’ experience in a supervisory role.
Must be able to work in unregulated temperatures ranging from mild to moderate in warmer and colder months.
Computer Skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Demonstrated proficiency in applicable WMS systems.
Language Skills
English (reading, writing, verbal).
Proficiency in business communication at all levels.
Other

PAYMENT AND BENEFIT INFORMATION
The expected base pay range is $90,816.00 – $113,520.00 Annual. Actual compensation will be determined based on job‑related factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
