Job Description
L3Harris, Technologies, Inc. is seeking an experienced Technical Writer (L4) for the new Ground Based Radar Digitation (GBRD) Contract located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The role involves end-to-end Technical Order Life Cycle Development of the GBRD Contract TO Baseline, creating several Space Force ground‑based radar Technical Orders.

Essential Functions

Develop Technical Orders in accordance with MIL‑STDs, TO 00‑5 series, and all DoD, Air Force, and Space Force compliance directives.

Perform all Technical Order development activities as the primary technical writer.

Support the TO Manager and lead technical writer by generating project milestone event meeting minutes for TO Guidance Conferences (TOGC) and In‑Process Review (IPR) events.

Mine technical data from engineering drawings and specifications (assembly drawings, interconnection diagrams, A‑level specifications, test procedures, etc.) to develop Technical Orders.

Support site trips for content development, conduct Contractor Certification, and assist with Government Verifications.

Collaborate with illustrators, TO QC, and engineering and logistics SMEs to achieve required Technical Order development objectives.

Report Technical Order development status to the lead technical writer and TO Manager for incremental reporting to the Government customer.

Capture approved limited data rights content from Contractor Furnished Equipment Notices (CFENs) for Commercial‑Off‑The‑Shelf (COTS) manuals.

Must be a U.S. Citizen with proof of citizenship.

Current or attainable SECRET security clearance.

Travel up to 20% of the year for content development, certification, and verification activities.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience. Alternatively, a minimum of 8 years of experience in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Additional Skills

Proficiency with MS Office applications (Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

Experience with PTC Arbortext Editor (SGML), RWS Contenta Explorer (content management system), XML, and RWS XML Professional Publisher (XPP).

Experience with XML tagging environments and high‑end document production software.

Experience with FrameMaker and FrameMaker+SGML.

Experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro PDF software.

Ability to analyze technical data based on Source, Maintenance, and Recoverability (SMR) codes to meet organizational‑level and depot‑level maintenance requirements.

Salary and Benefits
Salary range (Colorado): $63,500–$117,500. Benefits include health and disability insurance, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, EAP, education assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and company‑paid holidays.
