About the Role
The Company is seeking a National Vice President of Agency Underwriting to join their dynamic team. The NVP will be a key support to the SVP of Agency Underwriting, with a primary focus on Escalation Reviews and the management of the Agency Underwriting Scenario Team. This role is pivotal in providing solutions and assistance to loan-level escalations, complex scenarios, and ensuring effective communication with the underwriting department. The successful candidate will work closely with various teams, including Credit Risk, Training, Operations, Processing, Closing, and Quality Control, on a range of projects and communication.
Responsibilities for the NVP include reviewing and completing escalations, communicating decisions, leading daily team calls, and performing spot checks on escalation reviews. The role also involves growing the Agency Underwriting Scenario Team, ensuring the team meets SLAs, and managing the Agency Questions Log. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in business or finance, with an advanced degree preferred, and at least 10 years of experience in mortgage underwriting, including a minimum of 2 years in a management role. Extensive knowledge of risk evaluation, regulatory compliance, and FHA, VA, and conventional loan programs is essential. The NVP should be highly self-motivated, with a proven ability to lead teams and provide constructive feedback to enhance team performance.
