About the Role

The Company is seeking a VP of Agency Underwriting for the West Coast region. The successful candidate will be tasked with supporting the Underwriting department in daily operations, ensuring that service level agreements are met, and providing solutions to loan-level escalations and complex scenarios. This role involves maintaining and reporting on underwriter bonuses, offering guidance to the underwriting team and branches, and assisting in special projects as directed by management. The VP of Agency Underwriting will also be responsible for second-level mortgage reviews, monitoring the underwriting pipeline, and managing a small team of underwriting staff.

Applicants for the VP of Agency Underwriting position at the company should have the ability to underwrite conventional and government loans, including FHA and VA. Direct Endorsement status from HUD and/or SAR authority from VA, as well as experience with USDA, is preferred. A strong understanding of FHA, VA, and conventional loan guidelines, along with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, is also desirable. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of mortgage underwriting experience with agency guideline knowledge, and a minimum of 3 years in underwriting management. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, and experience with Encompass LOS is a plus. The role demands a professional with a deep understanding of compliance and disclosure requirements, and the ability to effectively manage a team and communicate with both operations and sales staff to ensure a high level of customer service.
