Director, Market Access Strategy and Payer Marketing

The Director, Market Access Strategy and Payer Marketing is responsible for developing and leading U.S. market access, reimbursement, pricing, and payer marketing strategies across a portfolio of inline and pipeline products. This role serves as a strategic partner to Brand, Medical Affairs, Value & Evidence, Market Access, Analytics, and Commercial teams to ensure optimal patient access, payer coverage, product differentiation, and value realization. This role reports to the Executive Director, Market Access Strategy and Payer Marketing.
The Director leads the development of payer value propositions, access strategies, pricing and reimbursement recommendations, market access customer engagement strategies, and customer-facing marketing resources. This position also ensures the integration of U.S. market access perspectives throughout the product lifecycle, from early development and business development evaluation through commercialization and lifecycle management.
Job Description
Lead the development of pricing, reimbursement, and payer marketing strategies across inline and pipeline products to optimize patient access and value realization.
Develop asset and portfolio-level value propositions, access narratives, and customer engagement strategies aligned with brand and business objectives.
Shape pricing, contracting, reimbursement, and channel strategies, providing recommendations, trade-off analyses, and contingency plans to support business goals.
Create and oversee payer-facing resources, managed markets tools, and training materials that effectively communicate product value and differentiation.
Partner closely with Brand, Medical Affairs, HEOR/RWE, Commercial, Pricing & Contracting, Market Access, and Analytics teams to ensure access considerations are incorporated throughout the product lifecycle.
Lead the assessment of market access channels, customer needs, and emerging opportunities, recommending innovative approaches to enhance access and customer engagement.
Monitor payer, policy, reimbursement, competitive, and market trends, translating insights into strategic recommendations and business action plans.
Guide evidence generation and value strategy development to support favorable payer coverage, reimbursement, and market access outcomes.
Serve as a key market access advisor on pipeline development, launch preparation, lifecycle management, and business development opportunities.
Define and monitor key performance metrics to assess execution and impact of market access and payer marketing strategies.
Influence and align cross-functional stakeholders, fostering collaboration between access, commercial, and brand teams to drive successful execution.
Manage payer marketing budgets, agency partners, and external vendors while ensuring delivery of high-quality strategic and tactical initiatives.
Travel up to 20-30% as business needs require
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Life Sciences, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
8+ years of biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical, or healthcare industry experience, including significant experience in Market Access, Payer Marketing, Pricing & Reimbursement, Managed Markets, or related commercial functions.
Demonstrated success developing and executing market access and payer strategies across the product lifecycle, including inline and pipeline products.
Deep understanding of the U.S. market access landscape, including payer systems, reimbursement, pricing and contracting, trade and distribution, patient access programs, and channel dynamics.
Experience working effectively in a cross-functional matrix environment and influencing senior stakeholders across Commercial, Brand, Medical, HEOR/RWE, and Market Access organizations.
Strong strategic, analytical, communication, project management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and drive results.
Proven leadership capabilities, including people management, team development, or leadership of complex cross-functional initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree (MBA, MPH, PharmD, or related field).
Experience supporting both pipeline and inline products, preferably within CNS or other specialty therapeutic areas.
Knowledge of pricing and contracting strategy, evidence generation, HEOR/RWE, and business development assessments.
Experience leading strategic initiatives, managing agency partners and budgets, and driving market access innovation across complex organizations.

Minimum $186,489.00 - Maximum $278,875.00, plus incentive opportunity: The range shown represents a typical pay range or starting pay for individuals who are hired in the role to perform in the United States. Other elements may be used to determine actual pay such as the candidate's job experience, specific skills, and comparison to internal incumbents currently in role.
