Equinox Takes Responsibility for Your Post-Workout Misdemeanors

If a Levi’s ad had a one-night stand with a Dos Equis commercial and the lovechild was baptized by a former Abercrombie art director, this “Equinox Made Me Do It” campaign by W+K New York would be the result. Equinox’s sensual shenanigans – mainly, turning gym memberships into sex – has graduated from bad joke that everyone is in on to an accepted norm at this point. The over-the-top sexuality even made its way into Aziz Ansari’s most recent standup special. But the appeal seems to be growing: gyms have spread across the country, celebrities are frequent guests, and Equinox now boasts a “Best Gym” award from a handful of publications including Fitness Magazine. The accolades should come in handy as people line up to sign up for a New Year’s resolution gym membership. So should the pretty people running naked on big billboards. If you live in a city with an Equinox gym, get ready to see butts.

The “Made Me Do It” campaign is W+K’s first work for Equinox, but you probably couldn’t tell the difference, because the gym is still selling the same amount of sex. And why shouldn’t they? While copycat fitness centers fight against each other, Equinox separated itself from the competition by rethinking the old adage of less is more. Credits after the jump.

‘Crush With Cupid’ Offers Last-Minute Fix for V-Day

Some of you may be familiar with “Bang With Friends,” the Facebook app (which some have already branded the “evilest app ever“) for those wanting to use social media as a way to casually have sex with acquaintances who like their status updates. I couldn’t tell you the success rate for BWF, but I imagine anonymously finding Facebook friends who want to bang is about as likely as anonymously finding Facebook friends who want to bang. There’s no other comparison (cue Aziz Ansari face).

Liz Jamora, Steven Lu and Zach Myrow at NYC-based Noise have taken the concept and classed it up for people who actually have healthy human relationships. Instead of BWF, they’ve given us “Crush With Cupid,” an app that uses the same concept and an identical web design to connect potential crushes on Valentine’s Day. If two crushes match up, they can access special Groupon deals. They can have sex, you know, if it happens organically, but the implication isn’t to just bang. They made a Law & Order: SVU episode about one of those BWF services, enough said.

Even though CWC looks to be a better alternative to BWF, there’s still another option that supercedes them both: up-front communication. If you need to use an anonymous Facebook service to see if a crush has reciprocal feelings, you’ve probably lost the battle before it even begins. Food for thought while you make last minute V-Day plans.

Guys Behind ‘Pay with a Tweet’ Team Up with Brooklyn Band to ‘Track Me’

Most of you are probably aware of the work of Innovative Thunder, aka a couple of blokes from R/GA NY who won a Cannes Cyber Lion Grand Prix for their “Pay With a Tweet” project. Well, the R/GA duo is back and has teamed up with a Brooklyn-based hip-hop/alt-rock crew called Riot !n Paris for a new side project separate from “the agency for the digital age” called “Track Me.” If you’re feeling lucky and are in the mood to stroke your ego even more, R!P is ready to record a track based solely on your social media persona.

To give it a go, check out this site, hit the “Track Me” button then wait and see if your social profile is deemed songworthy. And from what the parties involved, the track is yours forever so perhaps you’ll avoid and publishing tangles. To give you a clearer picture of the project, Innovative Thunder and Riot !N Paris have released some work as as examples based on the profiles of folks like comedian Aziz Ansari, SI model Kate Upton and photographer Terry Richardson.
