Kevin Hart Takes on Dave Franco in Madden NFL 15 for Heat, EA Sports

Heat, San Francisco taps Kevin Hart and Dave Franco (James’ brother) to star in a new online spot for EA Sports’ Madden NFL 15.

The spot, which also sees guest appearances from Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard and Epic Meal Time co-creator Harley Morenstein, sees Hart go to great lengths to get Franco to take him on at Madden NFL 15. Hart’s incessant challenges of Franco degenerate into destruction of property over the course of the over three minute spot. It all starts out with one epic slap, before (for some reason) going musical, as Hart continues to challenge Franco to take him on in Madden NFL 15. That decision is questionable, to say the least, making it a bit of a challenge to get through the overly long spot. Things are at their most entertaining when Hart is directly baiting Franco, free of musical interjection. Stick around for credits after the jump. Read more

Let Us ‘Join Together’ for W+K’s Celebration of Sony Artistry, Engineering

If you were watching the Golden Globes last night, you may have caught the debut of W+K Portland’s “Join Together” spot for Sony, which will run for the next six weeks.

The new work (perfectly set to The Who’s “Join Together”) celebrates Sony’s longtime practice of joining a “steadfast passion for artistry and commitment to engineering” in a matter of 90 seconds. Directed by Imperial Woodpecker Stacy Wall , the spot also comes equipped with its fair share of star power, whether it be director/Knicks mascot Spike Lee (filming with Sony’s 4K CineAlta camera), Academy Award-nominated actress Quvenzhane Wallis (now starring in Sony Pictures flick, Annie), actor Grizz Chapman of 30 Rock and Columbia Music artist, DJ Cassidy. In the process, the spot highlights a wide range of Sony’s most iconic products and innovations.

The broadcast effort is supported by the “Be Moved” brand experience site, and four product-focused online videos: “Inventing Furniture,” “Eyeballs,” “Skeptics” and “Floor Plan.” These online videos highlight some amazing new technology from Sony with a dash of light humor. Check out “Skeptics” below, and stay tuned for “Eyeballs” and “Floor Plan,” along with credits, after the jump.

Mitchum Keeps Bad Parents Cool

What do you do if your product lacks an eye-catching design and has an old man’s name? Make up for it with nifty visuals and pretty young people in your television spots.

Mother NY’s and production company Brand New School’s “Love Thy Pits” campaign for Mitchum deodorant has, among other things, set clogs on fire and caused some to cry “ripoff” due to some similarities to recent Old Spice work. But, as this installment is one of a several new spots using the same fast-talking narration and colorful, well art-directed video graphics, Mitchum’s parent company Revlon’s attempts at attracting a younger market share must be paying off.

So, young millennial soccer mom, don’t sweat accidentally kidnapping a neighbor’s kid. Credits after the jump.
