If you’re an American Express cardholder and a Twitter user, you’ve got the chance to grab some pretty big savings.
AMEX and Twitter partnered in March to created AMEX Sync, a program where cardholders sync their Twitter accounts to their AMEX cards and tweet hashtags for instant deals in stores across the US. And they’re amping up this partnership by advertising it through more traditional channels, namely TV.
AMEX Twitter Sync was launched this past March at SXSW, and offers discounts at restaurants, clothing stores, malls, sporting events, Best Buy and Ticketmaster.
To access these deals, users have to first sync their Twitter account to their AMEX card, and then tweet deal-specific hashtags. Once the hashtags are tweeted, their AMEX card will be loaded up with the in-store or online discount – no paper coupons, 25-character-long discount codes or mail-in rebates required.
To raise awareness of their new partnership, Twitter and AMEX have created a TV commercial featuring Adam Frucci of SplitSider, showcasing the types of deals cardmembers can get if they tweet. They first released the ad via social channels, and began airing it on TV on Monday.
In addition to informing AMEX users about the Twitter Sync deals, the ad also features a social call to action surrounding the hashtag #AmexSync. Whenever a viewer users this hashtag, they will receive a response from the @AmexSync account directing them to the latest deals.
