In its efforts to increase exposure in the UK, Twitter has just launched a UK-specific blog.
This follows a long list of recent pushes into the UK market, and shows that Twitter is serious about its global expansion. So if you’re a Twitter user in the UK, you can expect a lot more attention from the company in the future.
The blog was launched today with its first post entitled “Follow your interests close to home”. It highlights some of the most high-profile UK Twitter accounts, including the 40 percent of British MPs who have an account, football (or soccer, for those on the other side of the pond) players, local restaurants and shops, and, of course, famous faces like Emma Watson.
In a very Twitter-y tradition, the company announced the new blog on its UK Twitter account (@TwitterUK), tweeting “We have our very own Twitter UK blog! Please read, share, and let us know what you’d like to hear more about!”
The launch of this blog coincides with several major UK initiatives from the company, including the opening of its London sales office in April and the rumored launch of Promoted Products to UK customers in October.
If you’re a UK Twitter user, I suggest bookmarking the blog. It should highlight some of the more interesting accounts to follow, which is Twitter’s way of tackling the problem of new users unsure of how to use the network, and it will also likely feature news and new features as they are rolled out.
