Chunky Chefs to Visit White House

flotus+chefs.jpg It’s quite a fete to get the Food Network’s “Iron Chef” to come to your house for a cook off.

It’s another to have that house be the White House, which has been heavily (no pun intended) concentrating on the national problem of obesity, and to invite, well, some fatties over to compete against one another. (Read all about it here on the Obama Foodorama blog.)

But this is the White House. So they can do whatever they want. If anything unseemly happens, surely Secret Service will step in.

On January 3, the Food Network airs the episode in which White House Executive Chef Cristeta Comerford is paired with celeb chef Bobby Flay to square off against their overweight counterparts: Mario Batali and Emeril Lagasse.

Yes, some ingredients will be sought from First Lady Michelle Obama’s famous garden.

Here’s to some good, greasy, fat-filled eating in America. We wonder why that southern chef Paula Deen (who unapologetically whips up fried, high caloric fare) wasn’t invited.

FishbowlDC has sought comment from the White House as well as the Food Network’s Carrie Welch in the public relations office. Stay tuned.
