City Paper Loses Arts Writer to PhD Program; He’ll Miss the Piggyback Rides

Washington City Paper is losing Ted Scheinman, who writes for the Arts Desk. He’s entering a doctoral program at UNC Chapel Hill. He says he’s going to miss attending the Kentucky Inaugural Ball with Columnist Amanda Hess and the “idiosyncracies” of one Erik Wemple (now editor of TBD).

Today in a farewell post he reveals everything he’ll miss.

An excerpt:
“Henceforth, the film and theater pages and the colorful freelancers associated with each-are in the able hands of J.L. Fischer, and the redoubtable Emily Kaiser will now be running the paper’s online version.

The publisher’s youngest, meanwhile, will have to find someone else to give him piggyback rides around the building.”
