Editor Trashes Bosses in Resignation Note

Former Deputy Editor of Op-Eds for The Washington Times Anneke Green quit just before Christmas. But before she did, she submitted what may go down in FishbowlDC history as the ballsiest resignation letter we’ve ever seen.

Green, a relatively mild-mannered low-key brunette, was previously a books editor for Regnery Publishing and served in the White House speechwriting office of President George W. Bush. Her resume weaves on in other impressive directions. She was also a leadership staff member to then-Senate Majority Whip Mitch McConnell, and did a stint as a policy advisor and press liaison at the Administration for Children and Families at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

See her ballsy letter…

For what it’s worth, Green’s ire was not directed at her superior, Richard Diamond. “He was one of the good ones,” she noted in an email.

Dear Richard,
The Washington Times today is the most unprofessional and dishonest organization I have ever encountered.  I can’t continue to spend the lion’s share of my professional time fighting unethical practices being pushed by top leaders in the company.
Please consider this my resignation, effective immediately.
Sincerely,
Anneke E. Green
Deputy Editor, Op-Eds
We reached out to several members of TWT‘s management team, including CEO Larry Beasley, to find out what their reaction was to Ms. Green’s letter. So far, none have responded.
