GQ‘s “50 Most”: The Powerful Party
They came, we saw, we tallied…
Yesterday we filled you in on exactly who made GQ’s “50 Most Powerful People in DC” (and who was snubbed). Then we asked some of our favorite nightlife and Washington social scene reporters who of the “Most Powerful” they thought would grace the mag’s party last night at 701 Restaurant.
So just who showed and who no-showed? There were officially 17 “Most Powerful” partying, including some heavy hitters like #5 Peter Orszag, #22 Sen. Ben Nelson, and the only TV newser to make the cut- #31 George Stephanopoulos.
Also from the list: Dick Armey (#35), Ashok Bajaj (#47), Bob Barnett (#44), Joel Benenson (#41), Bob Cohn (#39), Stephanie Cutter (#49), Steve Elmendorf (#32), Nathaniel Fick (#42), Tom Goldstein (#45), John Harris (#43), Jim Messina (#25), Tony Podesta (#26), Paul Rieckhoff (#37) and Billy Tauzin (#12).
And how did our panel of experts- TWT‘s “Green & Glover, Under Cover” columnists Stephanie Green and Liz Glover, Politico Click’s Patrick Gavin, Washington Life‘s “Hollywood on the Potomac” columnist Janet Donovan and FamousDC- do?
Gavin correctly guessed the most- 14- though he did also throw the most names out there. Green and FamousDC tied for last, with zero correct “Most Powerful” guesses. And Glover and Donovan came in with a respectable six and four correct.
