HuffPost‘s Sam Stein appeared extensively on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” this morning. During one of the many segments on last night’s GOP debate, hosts asked Stein to reflect on where the news cycle goes next.
To provide context, there was significant discussion about a Politico story by Ben Smith and Jonathan Martin that said reported that President Obama‘s reelection campaign would go after potential opponent Mitt Romney by painting him as strange in his skinny jeans, among other insults. The roundtable questioned the validity of the story with Obama Senior Strategist David Axelrod insisting that Politico‘s story was false.
Right now, Stein said, the media is all about campaign trail coverage. He remarked on POTUS’ speech from Thursday, saying it was “probably the most 2012-centric speech to date, so I think the White House is gearing up, getting all politico [a collective gasp broke out on set].” Stein quickly corrected himself: “Not POLITICO, political,” he said.
In other Stein news…when host Joe Scarborough asked what he would be working on this week, Stein replied, “My vacation plans.” Stein is headed to Woodstock, Vt. where he got married. Scarborough said he may meet up with him there.
