Carville to Pen Column for The Hill

Blustery and comical Democratic pundit James Carville is joining the ranks of ex-Clinton pollster Dick Morris and FNC’s Juan Williams and will start writing a bi-weekly column for The Hill. In a conversation with Washingtonian‘s Carol Joynt, Carville boasted about being on the front page of today’s paper.

“James’ voice is among the most recognized in politics,” said The Hill‘s Editor-in-Chief Hugo Gurdon in a statement. “We are so pleased to include his unique take on current affairs. James will be an ideal complement to our diverse and prominent line-up of contributors.”

The column’s first post… includes Carville’s perspective on modern Republicanism and modern conservatism, according to a release dispatched to most but not all media reporters today. If you go begging for it, the pr firm hired by the paper will probably give it to you. In English, this means that his first column is about Republicans and the decision before Congress to attack Syria.

“Think about it this way: the 21st-century Republican Party is off to a worse start than the 20th-century Chicago Cubs,” he wrote. “But we are down to relying on clichés: A broken clock is right twice a day; even a blind squirrel can find an acorn; maybe the GOP will get this one right.”

No word on whether Carville will start hanging out with Morris to write their respective columns, although he did have a nice shout-out for The Hill.  “I have been reading The Hill since its inception in 1994 while living in Washington,” said Carville. “The quality of the writing and journalism is exemplary, and I’m excited for the opportunity to become a part of The Hill legacy.”
