The parody Twitter account that for months has hounded WaPo‘s Jennifer Rubin is officially suspended.
Earlier this month Rubin told FishbowlDC she was asking Twitter to remove “JRubinBIogger” — a Twitter user that mocks conservatives and Rubin’s own “JRubinBlogger” — from the site. She has apparently succeeded. Searching for the imposter (which spells the “blogger” portion of the username with a capital I instead of a lowercase l) now results in a notice that says “Sorry, that user is suspended.”
Erik Pelton, a trademark and copyright attorney… in Virginia, told us earlier in October that a parody account would likely be “difficult to shut down.” He cautioned Rubin on drawing more attention to the fake account by publicly complaining about it.
For now, at least, Rubin has come out on top. We’ve asked her to comment on her victory.
