Mark Salter Gets Salty With Politico‘s ‘Anonymous’ Authors

Politico writes a profile today of Mark Salter, a speechwriter, Sen. John McCain‘s closest, most trusted aide and presumed author of O: A Presidential Novel. The authors publish the Salter piece as “By ANONYMOUS.”

Pretty gimmicky.

The book has been the topic of much conversation among D.C. insiders. Speculation of who could have written the book has run rampant.

Salter gets pretty salty toward the Politico authors. He wrote one of the interviewers in an e-mail, “Do us both a favor and write [about] someone else.”

Unlike O, the authors publish their names at the end of the three-page piece. They are: Ben Smith and Jonathan Martin with Mike Allen and Byron Tau.
