Matt Cooper Takes a Break from Journalism

Famed reporter Matt Cooper is making a major change for 2010. Most recently with TPM and The Atlantic, Cooper is taking a break from journalism to take a senior adviser position with the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission. In his new role, he’ll be “advising bipartisan panel investigating financial crisis, assisting with investigation and writing.”

Explaining his motivation for the move, Cooper told FishbowlDC, “I covered the financial crisis at Conde Nast Portfolio, which was a itself a victim of the downturn. Like everyone, I want to know more about what happened and why.”

We’re told Cooper’s break will last at least until the end of 2010, when the commission’s report is due.
