Politico Picks Up Jonathan Allen

Good news this morning for Jonathan Allen, a victim of last week’s CQ-Roll Call cuts. Deputy Managing Editor Tim Grieve just announced that he will be joining Politico. Grieve’s memo:

A week after the arrival of Jake Sherman – who made an immediate splash with a front-page, web-leading piece on ACORN – I’m thrilled to announce that Jonathan Allen will be joining POLITICO’s Congress team to help us through the intense run to the end of the year. Many of you know Jon already. For those who don’t: He’s a top-flight congressional reporter who, until last week, was keeping us on our toes with his coverage at CQ. In 2008, Jon won both the Everett McKinley Dirksen Award for Distinguished Reporting on Congress and the Sandy Hume Memorial Award for Excellence in Political Journalism. He’ll start Tuesday and will be in the bureau starting Wednesday.
