News network aimed at Hispanic millenials launches today: According to their story on ReutersLisa Richwine and David Adams report that Walt Disney Co’s ABC, in collaboration with the Spanish-language network Univision Communications Inc, will launch a new network aimed at a specific group of millenials. Fusion, the new network, will be an English-language channel, focusing on the fastest growing segments of the U.S. population: young Latinos and millenials.

Why you should read it: Fusion will “blend hard news, satire and pop culture,” using politicians, reporters, and hand-puppets. You know, to make the news more like an episode of the “Muppet Babies,” just with hard news and Latin flavor. ¡Viva Televisión! Read more here.

The NSA is at it again!: According to TWT news writer Cheryl K. Chumley, the Spanish newspaper, El Mundo, is pretty peeved at the National Security Agency. The newspaper accuses the them of tapping over 60 million phone calls in Spain between December 2012 and January 2013. That’s 60 million telephones tapped in just that one month! Of course, it’s Edward Snowden‘s fault. El Mundo reported that the info came from Snowden’s leaks from May of this year.

Why you should read it: If El Mundo’s claims are true, then that means the government is way more competent and effective than anyone had thought or has ever experienced. Take notes, Department of Motor Vehicles. They’re making you look like a bunch of chumps! Read more here.

Alec Baldwin blasts Scarborough, Kristol on Twitter: In a HuffPost piece this morning by Jack Mirkinson, new MSNBC host Alec Baldwin blasts his colleague, Joe Scarborough, and his guest, The Weekly Standard Editor Bill Kristol on Wednesday morning. Despite the wishes of his new boss, Phil Griffin, the president of the network, who publicly told Alec that he needed to tone down his Twitter fighting, Alec went on his rampage before most people even finished their morning coffee.

Why you should read it: Check out Alec’s tweets and see who he credits for his flagrant disregard for his new boss’s orders. Read more here.

Press to blame for government shutdown? According to Media Matters blogger, Eric Boehlert, members of the press are partially responsible. For using falsely equivalent terms like “both sides” and “Congress” in reporting, Boehlert says the media takes the blame from those who really deserve it. Namely, in Boehlert’s liberal eyes, the Republicans, specifically, the far right-wing faction of the party, (AKA the Tea Partiers).

Why you should read it: This story may be talking about you and the reporting you did that one time about Obamacare and America and people and such. Remember? Well that’s why. Read more here

Something’s fishy — Normally we love fish-related stories, for obvious reasons, but this one scares us a little. If you’re a male who’s thinking of skinny-dipping in Scandinavia, you may want to think again. As CNN’s Leslie Holland reports, an exotic species of fish that has a habit of chomping on testicles has infiltrated the Danish/Swedish strait of Oresund. A “friendly cousin” of the piranha, the Pacu is actually a vegetarian and uses its large teeth to crush nuts, but sometimes bites the wrong type of nuts after mistaking testicles for their favorite snack. The fish is native to South America and could have been brought to Scandinavia by “amateur aquarium owners and fish farmers.” Don’t worry though, the Fishbowl is still Pacu-free.

The real Weiner film — We recently laid out some damn good ideas for an Anthony Weiner movie, but as TWT’s Cheryl K. Chumley reports, a real documentary may be in the works. In what could be only speculation, Chumley writes that Weiner has been close to MTV filmmaker Josh Kreigman, who has been recording nonstop for the past few months. The NYC mayoral candidate has also been carrying a black microphone box in his back pocket. According to the New York Post, and Weiner campaign officials, Weiner’s filming is only for a television ad. Kreigman, who used to be Weiner’s congressional district director, wouldn’t comment. We’re hoping to see a documentary soon on MTV, because we, at least, can’t get enough Weiner and please don’t take that the wrong way!
