CNN’s Piers Morgan Responds to Raunchy Tweet

A lot of us have been there.

Respond or don’t respond to a tweet that makes you want to drive your fist through the computer screen. Or maybe just cuss a little too much. Many think ignoring is the way to go, and they’re probably right. But some in the news business can’t always go that route.

CNN’s Piers Morgan appears to enjoy mixing it up with his gun-toting foes. An example: “Hey @piersmorgan , saw my neighbor walk in his front door with an AR-15 yesterday. Glad I have him for a neighbor!” a follower wrote. Piers retweeted by didn’t respond. But on Sunday he replied to a raunchy tweet that involved the t-word. Judging from the reaction, followers were neither surprised nor came down on him for it. His response appeared to only fuel the fire and trash talk.

Some weren’t pleased Piers even responded. But see how the bulk of fans reacted… Read more

Media Takes Sides on Zimmerman Decision

After continual media coverage of the George Zimmerman trial in the shooting of Trayvon Martin and more than 16 hours of deliberation by the jury, Zimmerman was acquitted of charges of second-degree murder and manslaughter over the weekend.

Since the shooting occurred last year, the case has been heavily followed by the media, with some outlets taking clear, strong stances. Now that the not-guilty verdict has been announced, some publications are being even more outspoken on the matter. We looked at a wide array of news organizations to analyze each publication’s own verdict of the case.

Howley: Out at Free Beacon, in at Daily Caller

Washington Free Beacon reporter Patrick Howley is the first employee to leave the right-wing news outlet. He wrote last week saying, “I’m not sure where exactly the door is revolving to. Anyways, I’m out at the Free Beacon. Voluntary resignation. Given my reputation in Washington, it may well be the end of my days working indoors.”

But Howley got a job quicker than he thought. He’s going to work for The Daily Caller. He starts today. “I’m leaving to pursue new opportunities, challenges, and horizons,” he wrote, prior to getting the new job. “Mostly horizons. I have some irons in the fire of the media world. I’m good at failing upward. No worries.”

He added, “Let it be noted that I had the first lede story in Free Beacon history, similar to John Belushi having the first sketch on SNL. Belushi also died first, which I’ll ignore.”
Howley’s history in D.C. journalism is as follows… Read more

Beacon Writer Cheers on Neil Munro

Amid the numerous calls for the firing of The Daily Caller‘s resident heckler Neil Munro are the conservative voices cheering him on. One such voice is Patrick Howley, a staff writer for Free Beacon, a new conservative Washington publication, who wrote into FBDC this week to respond to WaPo Dana Milbank‘s attempt to equate Daily Caller Editor-in-Chief Tucker Carlson to an outhouse. Milbank declared that Murno should be fired. Howley had another point of view:

Dana Milbank is a Yale graduate and member of Skull and Bones. Neil Munro is an Irish immigrant trying to earn a living at the Daily Caller. The smug rich need to stop using their public platforms to interfere with the livelihoods of immigrants they’ve never met.

The WaPo newsroom is chock-full of “Big Chill” Baby Boomers and their smarmy little offspring. These pampered WaPo heirs and debutantes seem to relish in trying to get people fired, which is arguably the most evil thing I’ve ever seen. Stand up for the working man! It is patently clear who is right in this important conflict, and it has nothing to do with politics.

Neil! Neil! Neil! Neil!
