The Web page for Fox Sports Radio LA’s weekday national program Loose Cannons now lists only Pat O’Brien and Steve Hartman. That’s because as of this week, third wheel Vic “The Brick” Jacobs has been moved off the show in favor of spot news and Lakers coverage duties.
Allaccess.com is the first to confirm the news. Given VBJ’s loyal fan base, there will likely be more article and Facebook comments like these:
Jerry: I think they did push him out… Pat’s shtick of being impatient with Vic every day was Pat’s true feelings about Vic.
rusticgroovy: It’s only been a couple of days and I really miss Vic. I love Pat (& tolerate Steve) but the Loose Cannons are not the same. Missing you, Vic!
As far as we can tell, the Jacobs move is not officially being labeled a KLAC 570 AM demotion.* But that’s what it feels like. Still, it’s great that he will remain on the Lakers beat to karma-dog new arrivals Steve Nash and Dwight Howard.

*Update – 01/29/13: During the second hour of today’s program (now called FOX Sports Primetime), two notable things occurred with regards to Jacobs. O’Brien and Hartman (from New Orleans) confirmed during a chat with Vic that before the start of the 2012 NFL season, Jacobs accurately predicted it would be a Super Har-Bowl match-up of the 49ers against the Ravens.
O’Brien then implored Jacobs to let the former’s “mean [Twitter] followers” know that he was not responsible for the third Loose Cannon’s exit but rather that Jacobs left of his own volition to pursue a dream Lakers opportunity. (Or at least one that looked like it would be until the actual Nash-injury derailed season unfolded.)
While Jacobs didn’t exactly take O’Brien up on the request of emphatically confirming this info, he didn’t refute the statement either. So there you have it; O’Brien on this day (and perhaps before as well) has officially denied responsibility for the Jacobs departure.
