Paramount Retributively Pushes ‘Soloist’ Back Again

soloist.jpgParamount Pictures, perhaps getting a dig into former partner DreamWorks, has pushed back the potential Oscar nominee Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr.‘s “The Soloist” from March 13 to April 24 of next year, Variety reports.

DreamWorks was caught off guard in October when Paramount pushed back the release of “The Soloist” from this year to March 13 at the 11th hour, thus depriving it of Oscar consideration.

The Joe Wright-directed film was originally to have opened Nov. 21.

In the April 24 slot, “Soloist” will open one week before the official start of the summer box office, which is theoretically considered primetime for moviegoing.

DreamWorks and Paramount had a mutually agreeable division last month when they announced the distribution splits for the next two year’s worth of film product.

“The Soloist” is based on a series of articles by Los Angeles Times columnist Steve Lopez and tells the story of a homeless schizophrenic musician’s dream to play at Walt Disney Concert Hall.
