Stephen Colbert Rips Recent CNN Layoffs

Earlier this month, CNN announced it was laying off upwards of 50 employees, including some from its Los Angeles bureau. “Nobody important, just editors and photojournalists,” Stephen Colbert said on last night’s Colbert Report, mocking the network’s decision to cut jobs and rely instead on content from viewer generated iReports. “Bravo to CNN for getting rid of all those pesky professionals.”

Maybe this is what all those network types mean when they tell Occupy protesters to shut up and get jobs? I mean, if you’re gonna be in the streets anyway, it’s just plain lazy and inconsiderate not to iReport a few times per day.
