When Paris Hilton talks to Larry King this week , she’ll actually be talking to Harvey Levin, the TMZ king-pin. The NY Times surveys the TMZ kingdom, and gets a hilarious quote from the ubiquitous Janice Min:

TMZ pokes fun at celebrity–sometimes gentle, sometimes quite harsh–and to millions of people, that’s more engaging than reading a canned interview.

And who’s been feeding us those canned interviews for years and years? Could it be Time, People, Entertainment Weekly and other Time-Warner publications?

TMZ’s tv show launches September 10.
