Tony Bourdain Chews Up Food Network Awards, Spits ‘Em Out

foodaward.jpg

Tony Bourdain goes off on the Food Network over The Food Network Awards. He actually felt some pity for Rachael Ray:

how must it have felt for her to stand up there in front of what appeared to be a halfway empty room of stunned, near comatose trout and feign enthusiasm while presenting the award for “Best Appliance”?

The award, an metal slice of cake, is inedible. Fitting, isn’t it?

Winners include, besides those of us smart enough to avoid this–and we’re damned few in number, as this was the second most-watched program in the network’s history:

Play With Your Food: Liz Hickok, Jell-O artist.

Best SuperMarket: Wegmans

Icy Innovations: MooBella, vending machine ice cream.

“Hot” Chocolate: LA’s Jin Patisserie lost to Seattle’s Theo.

How long before FN makes Jonathan Gold an offer?

And then there’s the Foodie recording artist, G Love and Special Sauce.
