A Look at The Film ‘Murdoch’

Jeff Bercovici has a copy the script for Murdoch, a movie about Rupert Murdoch and his family that will most likely never be made. While Hollywood might be too scared to back the project, we can at least give you some details about the plot.

Murdoch revolves around Rupert’s 78th birthday, and is interwoven with items that could actually happen, though maybe not so dramatically. For example, at Murdoch’s birthday party he tries to convince his eldest children – James, Elisabeth, Lachlan and Prudence – to give voting rights regarding his empire to his young daughters. There’s also a part in the script where a tabloid editor debates going with a story that will inevitably anger the Chinese government.

The movie sounds like it would be pretty entertaining, and no doubt there’s plenty of drama involving the Murdochs, so it’s too bad the script will sit on a shelf somewhere collecting dust. Especially when you consider who would be cast as Murdoch. FishbowlNY is thinking Gary Oldman, only not regular Gary Oldman, more like what he looked like in Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
