Amazon Partners With Newsweek to Publish Digital Candidate Insta Bios

51uFU+X0mJL._SL500_AA242_PIkin-dp-500,BottomRight,-11,38_AA280_SH20_OU01_.jpgAs the print magazine market continues to plummet it looks like Newsweek is trying to keep its bases covered. The26thStory, Harper Studio‘s recently launched blog, has picked up on an interesting new venture between Newsweek and Amazon. Amazon digital is packaging and selling, for $9.99 each, “insta-bios” of each of the four candidates comprised of the best of Newsweek‘s Up-Close political coverage.

The bios will be titled Mr. Hot, Mr. Cool, The Insider, and The Outsider — we’ll leave it up to match them up with the appropriate candidates — and went on sale yesterday. It’s smart idea on two fronts: one, it’s a way to make money on previously published material, and two, by making it available as a Kindle download Newsweek doesn’t have to worry about any lead time for print and is able to take immediate advantage of the current election fervor. One wonders if they’ll also be able to add further content to the bios as the story progresses in the next three(!) weeks.
