American Idol Powers Fox 5 to Top of Ratings

With “Hollywood Week” well underway, American Idol gained the top two prime time positions in the New York ratings.

WNYW/Fox 5 saw an average 1.7 million viewers for the two nights last week, according to the Nielsen Company. The amateur talent competition had an average 8.4 rating.

But Idol wasn’t the only show to top 1 million viewers.

NCIS took third place with 5.2 rating. Also on WCBS, Two and a Half Men had a 5.0. The Charlie Sheen comedy tied another CBS show The Good Wife.

Back on Fox 5, Glee was 4th with a 5.1.

NCIS: L.A. also had an estimated 1 million watchers on WCBS at number seven.

MTV’s Jersey Shore held down the eighth slot for the week.

  • 9th         60 Minutes         WCBS       (889,000/4.4)
  • *10th    The Mentalist    WCBS       (831,000/4.1)
  • *10th   Mike and Molly WCBS       (818,000/4.1)

WABC had its highest entry at number 12 with Desperate Housewives (761,000/3.8).

WNBC couldn’t crack the Top 30 until number 25 with the Saturday Night Live prime time special (596,000/3.0).

The NBA All-Star Game pulled in big numbers despite being on TNT (17th/705,000/3.5).
