Paging Dr. Carlos Danger…

Miami New Times managing editor Tim Elfrink had a fun blog item yesterday as the newest Anthony Weiner sexting scandal and press conference were rolling down the news pike.

He revealed that there is a real guy in the Miami-Dade area called Carlos Danger, matching the chat pseudonym used by Weiner. This Carlos is a licensed psychiatrist:

The real Dr. Danger – who hopefully at least considered a career building giant, evil laser devices in a hollowed-out mountain somewhere before settling on psychiatry – operates a Coral Gables clinic called Innova Clinical Trials.

Danger, who graduated from the University of Miami in 2001 and did his residency until 2005 at Jackson Memorial, didn’t return Riptide’s call to discuss Weiner’s misuse of his good name.

FishbowlNY also put in an interview request yesterday, one of what we imagine could now be dozens. The good news is that according to one of the blog item commenters, the similarities stop at the name:

Melissa Misley: I actually know Carlos Danger. I worked in the same building for many years … And HE DOES NOT LOOK LIKE ANTHONY WEINER.

On the Innova website, virtual sex addiction is not currently listed as an area of expertise. But given what has transpired, perhaps Dr. Carlos R. Danger and associate Ivan F. Danger should consider expanding into that realm.
