Colbert’s ‘Ballsy’ Book Details

colbert_book_051007.jpgFresh off the early success of Stephen Colbert‘s Daily Show spinoff — and the astonishing 1.8 million copies sold of America The Book — Warner Books (now Grand Central Publishing) worked quickly in March 2006 to lock Colbert into a book of his own. The result, I Am America And So Can You and companion DVD, will be published just in time for Christmas, according to the marketing materials distributed this week to booksellers and obtained by FBNY.

And the acconpanying marketing copy seems to be just as bombastic as the show:

A simple book from a simple mind, I Am America And So Can You will rival the Bible in importance! … Why write this book now? Colbert fears America has lost its balls. He wants to reballify the nation. Even the ladies. Ladies can have balls — lady-balls. They’re called “Thatchers.” Colbert will show you how he got his mammoth swinging sack.
